We are delighted to announce that Robert Goodrich has been appointed as the new Director of Music at Wymondham Abbey
Robert will be coming to us in July from his current post as Director of Music at Churcher's College, Petersfield. Before that he was Director of Music at Framlingham College, Suffolk, for 12 years.
Robert was a choral scholar at Birmingham Cathedral whilst gaining his music degree at the Conservatoire and post-grad teaching qualification at Birmingham University. He then taught in Kent for a few years, was a lay clerk at Rochester Cathedral, directed several music groups and was organist and choirmaster of St Peter’s, Boughton Monchelsea. In more recent years he has worked with Philip Aldred and performed with him at the Abbey on several occasions.
Rob is now ready for a change from teaching in schools. He looks forward to a church appointment and to preparing music for the liturgy - always such an inspiration to him.
He says 'I'm delighted to be taking up the post at the Abbey and I can't wait to get started in the summer. My partner Lorna, a primary school teacher and ex-Durham University Choral Scholar will also be making the move and is looking forward to joining the Abbey choir. Personally, I am excited to have the opportunity of working with Fr Christopher and the musicians and choristers of the Abbey with a view to reaching out into the community and so as to draw on the wealth of musical possibilities available in the town and beyond.'
