The Abbey Choir

The Abbey Choir is a very important part of our worship and church life. It welcomes members of every age and ability. Help is given to people new to singing. The repertoire is very wide and includes the finest church music from every era of the English church tradition. There is a special practice for younger members lasting half an hour at 5.30pm and the full choir meets at 7.30pm for an hour and a half. There are additional practices before some services and major festivals.

Choir members are expected to sing every Sunday morning and for some of the Sunday evening Evensongs together with a few special services throughout the year such as Christmas, Easter, etc. The choir prepares a special major choral work every year including Stainer's Crucifixion, Handel's Messiah, and, in 2005, Maunder's From Olivet to Calvary. New singers are always most welcome. The choir is a part of our Christian conviction and the members sing as a part of their Christian faith. For more information speak to the Vicar.
